UConn Pre-College Summer allows high school students to explore their academic interests, while gaining knowledge of institutional activities and social environments on a college campus.  Students gain an understanding of the college classroom through interactions with engaging University instructors and explore the nuances of college-life and transitioning to college at a nationally ranked public University.

For students interested in Psychology, Cognitive Sciences, Neuroscience and Medicine, I teach the Pre-Psych: Psychology & Neuroscience class

Seeing is believing – not! Brain and behavior: Mind or Machine? is an introduction to the field of Behavioral Neuroscience. I will show you that what we think we see, hear and remember can have little to do with the physical reality. I will guide you through fascinating human and animal research including responses of individual brain cells to changes in the world around us.  Students are exposed to lively discussion, video clips, in-class activities, and tour Brain Research laboratories.

Seeing is believing... NOT!

Ever get a feeling of Déjà vu?

How can we learn in such a "messy world"?

Are we more that a bundle of neurons??

How can we tell if we’ve seen something before?

Do memories change over time!?

How does the brain store memories?

What is a "Grandmother Cell"? (really!)
